4 Tips for Finding Your Happy Place

I don’t know about you but I have been struggling for a while to find my happy place.

I have allowed the pressures of life including my future career, my health, and the balance of school and other things to weigh me down to the point in which I haven’t taken the time to do what I know I should do: go to my happy place.

It’s true sometimes we have mental barriers, aside from those pressures of life, such as anxiety or depression, that don’t allow us to get there.

But, that doesn’t mean we can’t get there.

Part of finding our happy place is taking those steps to take care of ourselves.

It can include addressing the mental issues that don’t allow us to be happy.

Finding my happy place primarily centers on being able to press into practices that re-balance me in those moments when I am so overwhelmed that I am on the verge of or in the midst of a breakdown. 

These are my tips:

1. Decide that happiness is what you want. Evaluate your life. If you have not been happy decide that you’ve had enough and that you’re going to do what you need to do to find happiness.

2. Make a list of all of the things that make you happy. Self-explanatory. Dig deep.

3. Incorporate them into your life. Not just when you’re having your stressful moment or your meltdown but as a regular part of your life. This way when you’re in the midst of chaos you’ll already be used to doing whatever practice it is and you will know which one helps you the most.

4.  Try counseling. Whether your situation is chaotic or not, counseling can be amazingly beneficial. We don’t realize it but it’s so important to vent and there’s nothing better than venting to someone who not only has encountered your situation numerous times but can also help you figure out how to action plan out of your rut.


Finding your happy place is not easy. Please don’t get me wrong.

However, it is totally possible to achieve.

Take consistent action towards it and trust me, once you do you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.

I hope that this post can be helpful to you. Know that you are not alone. Life gets crazy even for those who seem like they have it all together.

But there is hope, and the power for the completion of that hope lies somewhere within you.
